ECCGACP Gardener Agreement Application, 2026

Individuals hoping to become a licensed community gardener with the ECCGACP for the 2026 season must agree to the following terms set by the Community Garden Committee to apply for an assigned garden plot. Return gardeners may secure their plot for the 2026 season by completing their 2026 application by January 30, 2026. If space is available, new plot assignments will be offered to individuals on the wait list in the order they were added to list. Where plot assignments are offered to individuals on the wait list, they will have 7 days to secure their plot with submission of a completed 2026 application. Applications can be submitted via the online form, by email as a .pdf or picture image attachment sent to communitygarden@deutschtown.org, or can be mailed to the Community Garden Committee at the following address: 415 East Ohio Street, #225, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. Applications for new interest in obtaining a garden bed can be submitted at any time and will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Plots will be offered to qualified applicants when available or the individual will be added to the waitlist.
The City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Works may require completion of an additional application, if/when available.
The Community Garden Committee requests a twenty dollar ($20.00) suggested yearly donation be submitted by individuals when they are assigned a garden plot. Your donation is appreciated and will help to expand and sustain the garden in future years, but should not be a barrier to participation. Donations can be made online at ECCGACP's Donation Page, by checks made out to East Allegheny Community Council (EACC) and mailed to 415 East Ohio Street, #225, Pittsburgh, PA 15212, or by cash provided to the Community Garden Committee in person. Other methods of payment may be available through the EACC Treasurer.
If a community gardener fails to prep/plant in their assigned plot by June 15, 2026 without communicating the reason, the garden license will be revoked and the assigned garden plot will be made available to applicants on the waitlist in a sequential manner.
The Community Garden Committee reserves the right to revoke a garden license and reassign a garden plot if a community gardener fails to plant or care for their assigned garden bed OR fails to communicate with the Community Garden Committee for a prolonged amount of time. If a community gardener neglects their assigned garden plot for two (2) weeks, the Community Garden Committee may send a notice with a request for assigned plot maintenance and a warning of possible license revocation, if neglect continues. If there is no actionable response from licensed gardener and neglect continues for an additional one (1) week, totaling three (3) weeks of continual neglect, the Community Garden Committee may revoke the license.
Community gardeners will have the option to select either a half (6 ft) or a full (12 ft) length plot when submitting their application. If a gardener selects a half plot, they will be paired with another licensed garden to share the full plot space. Licensed gardeners sharing a plot should work in partnership with one another, with the plot space shared in an equitable manner. If conflict between licensed gardeners with assigned plots in a shared raised bed cannot be resolved, concerns should be reported to the Community Garden Committee. Unresolved conflict between licensed gardeners may result in the revocation of both parties’ licenses, and the assigned garden plots will be made available to applicants on the waitlist in a sequential manner. Assignments will be limited to one 12 ft garden plot per household when there is a waitlist.
All licensed community gardeners are expected to respect the work of fellow community gardeners, as well as the shared space and resources of the ECCGACP. Licensed community gardeners may only harvest produce from their assigned plot and the shared community plots. Community gardeners may only harvest from other assigned plots if they have explicit permission from the licensed community gardener assigned to said plot. Additionally, licensed community gardeners should treat shared community plots, tools, and other features of the ECCGACP with respect. Community gardeners should NOT remove any shared tools or features from the ECCGACP site unless they have secured explicit permission from the Community Garden Committee. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in the revocation of the community garden license, and the assigned garden plots will be made available to applicants on the waitlist in a sequential manner.
PLEASE NOTE: You may only use organic fertilizers and methods at your plot. The use of non-organic pesticides is strictly prohibited. Use of raw manure is NOT permitted in garden beds. Use of commercial/composted manure products must be reviewed with the Compost Master prior to use. All posted garden and composting rules must be followed.
